The SD/HD SDI DA’s included in this manual provide a way to distribute one SDI signal to two or four other devices. A USB port permits the user to view internal status registers and set operating parameters. The units use an isolated power system so ground loops can be controlled. The unit also uses a power connector that has screw flange attachments for high vibration environments. BNC connectors are used for the signal connectors. Depending on the unit there will be 1 input signal connection and 2 or 4 output connections. This unit is a single input, two output, re-clocking SDI distribution amplifier (DA). The power supply is fully isolated so no ground loops are created between the power connections and the video signals. When using Belden 1694A cable, or an equivalent cable, and a source that meets the SMPTE specifications, this unit will equalize for up to 392 feet (120 meters) at 2.97 Gbit/s, 655 feet (200 meters) at 1.485 Gbit/s, and 1310 feet (400 meters) at 270 Mbit/s. This unit is designed to be placed at the sink end of the cable. The power connector has two hold down screws for high vibration environments. Two 6-32 threaded inserts are molded into the bottom of the unit to provide a method for mounting the unit to a flat surface. The manufacturing process includes extended thermal testing to ensure the unit meets all of its specification over the entire operational temperature range.
